How, where and when do I apply?
All apartment applications are online at http://housing.boisestate.edu. After submitting an application a $25 application fee will appear on your BroncoWeb account; you must pay the application fee in order to have your application processed. Failure to pay within 30 days will result in a cancellation of your application.
Applications are accepted on/after:
May 1st – fall term (August – November move-in dates)
November 1st – spring term (December – April move-in dates)
March 1st – summer term (May – July move-in dates) [back]
If I cancel my application, do I get my application fee back?
The $25 application fee is non-refundable as it pays for the processing of the housing request. You may cancel your application prior to the acceptance of an apartment. Once you’ve accepted an apartment a $225 non-refundable reservation will be posted; this fee will be converted to the security deposit at the lease signing. [back]
How many people can live in a one bedroom apartment? Two bedroom? Three bedroom?
The maximum number of adults that can live in a one bedroom apartment is two. A two bedroom is three adults. A three bedroom is four adults. [back]
Where is the Apartment Office?
The Apartment Office is located in the University Square Apartment complex, Building C, just across the parking lot from the Health and Wellness Center off of University Drive. Our address is 1309 S. Chrisway Drive, Office #112. [back]
Can I see the apartments?
Anyone can view the apartments via a virtual tour on our website. We also offer apartment viewings of our available inventory from 10:00am to 5:00pm daily (the times may vary during University break periods and holidays). Appointments are recommended as specific complexes may not have availability. Call (208) 447-002 if you have questions. [back]
Can I use my financial aid to pay for the application fee? Deposit? Rent?
Financial aid does not cover the payments of the application fee or the security deposit. Financial aid may cover the rent. Any aid will first be applied to tuition and fees, any left can be applied towards rent. [back]
Is alcohol allowed on the premises?
Students of legal age residing in the apartments will follow state laws and University policy regarding alcohol use. Students of legal age may not contribute to the delinquency of minors – by purchasing, providing or making alcohol available to underage students and/or their guests, with the exception granted those minors in their stewardship (children or dependents). Possession and/or consumption of alcohol are prohibited in any public area of University owned buildings or grounds. Therefore, alcohol is not allowed on landings, balconies/decks, in the parking lots and outside University Housing facilities on University grounds.
Kegged (tapped) beer, other common containers of alcohol (e.g. punch), and other large quantities of alcohol are prohibited in all University Housing facilities, including apartments. A common source of alcohol is any amount of alcohol that is shared with others. Parties and other gatherings where alcohol is shared is prohibited.
A person is considered in violation of University Housing’s policy on alcohol use if his or her personal alcohol consumption infringes upon the rights of other persons or property. [back]
Do I need a parking pass/permit to park in apartment community?
Yes, valid parking passes/permits are required for all tenants, occupants and guests to park in the apartment parking lots. Please refer to Parking and Transportation Services website (www.boisestate.edu/parking) or calling (208) 426-PARK for details on permits and cost structure. [back]
Are pets allowed in the apartments?
Due to health, safety, and facility concerns, fish in aquariums (10 gallons or less) are the only pets allowed in the apartments. Trained service or companion animals required by a qualified person with a disability are the only exception to this policy and must be approved by the Office of Disability Services at 426-1583. When is my rent due and where do I send my payments?
Rent is due on the 25th of each month. Financial aid, if applicable, will be applied to your BroncoWeb account toward apartment charges after tuition and fees are paid. A late payment fee of $10.00 or 1.75% of the balance due, whichever is greater, will be implemented if payment is not received by the Payment and Disbursement Center by 4:30 p.m. on the 1st day of the month or, when the 1st falls on a weekend, on the following Monday. Is smoking allowed?
Due to health concerns and building maintenance, smoking is prohibited in all campus apartments. Smoking should take place only in designated exterior locations. Please be respectful of others’ rights to not be subjected to second-hand smoke by not smoking within 30 feet of all entrances. Smoking is prohibited in all laundry rooms, landings, and entryways. Smoking in playgrounds is strongly discouraged. Please use ashtrays to dispose of used smoking implements. [back]
What is the duration of the lease?
University Housing provides flexible lease durations. The standard lease is for 12 months. For an additional $25/month rent increase a lease between 6 and 11 months is available; for an addition $50/month a lease for less than 6 months is available. [back]
Do you offer Section 8 Housing?
Yes. Boise City/Ada County Housing Authority provides rental assistance to families whose household income does not exceed 50% of the area median income. Due to the demand of rental assistance it may take up to 12 months for BCACHA to approve an applicant. For more information visit their website at http://www.bcacha.org or call (208) 345-4907. [back]

Do any of the apartments have internet access?
Internet is provided at no additional cost. University Village has wireless internet connection only. The university does not support personal wireless internet routers. [back]
Is there any place on campus where I could host a gathering?
University Square and Village each have a community center. These rooms are a great place to study, socialize, or relax. The community center is available for reservations for apartment tenants to host private events. A reservation form must be completed at the University Apartment Office, in University Square, Building C #112. Residents that use the community center are expected to follow the center rules and are required to clean up after their event. No alcohol is permitted in the community center. [back]
Do you have a fitness room?
Better than that, all students have free use of the Campus Recreation Center which features great workout equipment, exercise/fitness classes, indoor courts, climbing wall, and much more. For more information go to http://rec.boisestate.edu. [back]
How safe are the apartments?
Campus Security is responsible for building security, grounds security, citizen assistance, emergency response, and alarm monitoring. Security Officers patrol the facilities weekdays from 4:00pm to 7:00am and 24 hours a day on weekends and holidays. Campus Security can be contacted at (208) 426-1453. In an emergency, dial 911.
In University Square, the buildings are locked 24 hours a day and require a door access card. Residents are expected not to prop doors open or let people unknown to them in to the facilities. [back]
How do I protect my belongings from being damaged or stolen?
As a resident you belongings are not insured against theft, fire, or water damage. Boise State University and University Housing strongly recommend you purchase renter’s insurance to protect yourself and your belongings. Renter’s insurance is often available at a reasonable cost from the company you my have your auto insurance through. [back]

Do you have washers and dryers?
University Square apartments have full size washer and dryer in the individual units. Other complexes have laundry facilities for exclusive use of the apartment community residents. Please do not leave laundry unattended or allow laundry to remain in the machines after washing/drying. If you find a machine not working properly or it has taken your money please call Hainesworth Laundry at (208) 376-4729. [back]
Where do I get my mail?
During your lease signing you will be given your mailbox number and address. Mailboxes are located in centralized locations throughout the apartment complexes. All packages that are too large for your individual mailbox or those delivered by FedEx, DHL, or UPS will held in the apartment office and package slips will be delivered to your mailbox. When retrieving your packages you will be required to present your student ID. It is the resident’s responsibility to fill out a mail forwarding card with USPS when you move out. [back]

Are the apartments furnished?
The University Apartments are unfurnished. It is the responsibility of the residents to furnish their own furniture and personal decoration. [back]
How can I pay for the entire semester or year of rent?
Fill out the Post Advance Rent form and submit to the Apartment Office. Please allow up to 72 hours for the rent to be posted to BroncoWeb. [back]
Can I move from the residence halls to the apartment community during the academic year?
Yes, if you meet the criteria and there is availability. Fill out the Residence Hall to Apartment Transfer Request and meet with your Resident Director. [back]
What is included?
University Housing pays for water, sewer and trash. It is the resident’s responsibility to pay for electricity to Idaho Power and gas to Inter Mountain Gas (Square & Village). Internet is provided at no additional cost. Cable TV and phone are the resident’s choice (University Square has local phone and cable provided), (University Manor has phone available at $25/month). Satellite TV is not permitted in the apartment community. [back]
