What is the Civic Leadership Residential College?
The Civic Leadership Residential College Community provides a seamless educational experience for students who are interested in leadership development and who want to participate in university and community-wide leadership endeavors. Participating students will develop leadership skills through mentoring opportunities, participating in activities, and interacting with a live-in faculty member. Past activities included a Global Relief Silent Auction, numerous community service projects, the Last Lecture Series, Dessert Dialogues, and social gatherings.
Why should I participate?
The benefits for first-year students at Boise State University who participate in the Civic Leadership Residential College include:
- Development of leadership skills early in their academic career

Cody Hafer
Hello! My name is Cody Hafer, and I am going to be the Program Assistant (PA) for the Civic Leadership Residential College during the 2009-10 academic school year. I am a junior here at Boise State, and I am striving to earn a degree from the School of Social Work. Some of my hobbies include signing, acting, performing, student organization and campus involvement, leadership, and just rocking out to "the jams" in my car with my friends!! There are a myriad reasons why I am excited to be the PA this upcoming year, but the most prominent is my desire to be a positive and encouraging role model and mentor.
From my five semesters of experience I have some advice to give: open your hearts and minds to new experiences and people. College is one the most challenging and rewarding experiences of your lives, so be present with a smile and willingness to learn. I am so excited to meet you all next year, and I cannot wait for all of our experiences and memories to be made.
