
Zeynep Hansen is an Associate Professor of Economics at the College of Business and Economics (COBE). She joined the Department of Economics in Fall 2007. Prior to that date, she was Assistant Professor of Organization and Strategy at Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis. She completed her doctoral studies in University of Arizona in 2002. She is a proud graduate of Boise State University in 1997 with majors of Economics and Mathematics. Her fields of specialization within economics include industrial organization, applied microeconomics and economic history. She is currently doing research in wide range of topics including: pharmaceutical and biotechnology strategic alliances, learning and diversity in team work, medical malpractice cases and water infrastructure allocation in the western United States. Her teaching interests are in Health Economics, History of Economic Thought and the U.S. Economic History.
Zeynep Hansen and her spouse, Beau Hansen, are the current Faculty-in-Residence for the COBE Residential College Program. As part of this program, they interact frequently with business students. Students in this program are exposed to range of issues involved in managing a business. This exposure is firsthand through their work as managers and employees at the Dawson’s 4.0 Coffee Shop. In addition, they have opportunities to interact with other COBE students, faculty and community business leaders representing the range of business disciplines.
Zeynep and Beau Hansen are both graduates of Boise State University and both were Top Ten Scholars in 1997. They have a 2-year-old son, Korbin, who enjoys living in the residence halls very much and two cats. They like outdoors activities such as camping, backpacking, hiking and rock climbing, and they are glad to be back in Boise.
