Welcome

Welcome to the Residential College program, a part of Boise State University Housing!

Founded in 2004, the Residential College program provides Boise State students a unique and special opportunity to live and learn with students who share similar academic interests and majors.  Each community is facilitated by a faculty member who lives within the residence hall, planning learning outcomes and activities that will benefit a student’s overall academic experience, including earning academic credit for participating.

The Residential College is a living-learning community that is part of a larger formal program of learning communities at Boise State.  This very special program was designed after the Oxford and Cambridge models of higher education, where faculty lived with residents with the purpose of bridging any gaps between learning that takes place within and outside of the formal classroom.

It’s an honor to be a member of the Residential College program, which consists of approximately 125 students living in five learning communities with live-in faculty. The program offers students a variety of experiences from which to choose:

  • Arts & Humanities –all majors welcome
  • Business & Economics – business majors (accountancy, economics, general business, finance, etc.)

College of Business and Economics

  • Civic Leadership – all majors welcome
  • Engineering – engineering majors (computer science, civil, construction management, electrical, etc.)

College of Engineering

  • Health Professions – majors in health related fields (kinesiology, nursing, radiology, health promotion, etc.)

College of Health Sciences

College of Education

The Residential College program offers motivated students personalized attention similar to a small liberal arts school.  Our goal is to provide students with a very unique learning opportunity that is found only in a small portion of universities in the country.
