Melissa has worked in Boise State University Housing since fall 2005. Prior to that date, she served as Boise State’s first Women’s Center Coordinator from 2000 – 2005, establishing the first Sexual Assault Response services on campus as well as developing numerous programs and services for students.
She graduated with a B.A. in English from Miami University in 1988 and earned her master’s degree in higher education from the University of Georgia in 1990. She has dedicated her life to education and has worked at Eastern Michigan University in its Community of Scholars, Michigan State University, and Portland State University prior to coming to Boise.
Program Assistants are upperclass students selected to serve each Residential College community by living on the floor and working directly with the faculty-in-residence. Supervised by the Assistant Director for Residential Education, program assistants help plan events and activities for each RC community. They also assist faculty with a 1-2 credit hour class for which RC students will register. Program Assistants work as a team to coordinate a newsletter and annual events that support the entire Residential College program. This is a great opportunity for second year RC students to get more formally involved and receive compensation of a single room. Program Assistants also earn a little extra money by working at the main desk for the Office for Living-Learning Programs.
If you are a sophomore or above and have interest in employment as a Program Assistant complete an application for employment at http://housing.boisestate.edu/employment and click on Program Assistant.
Position appointments for each fall 2008 will be made by the end of the spring semester.
