Housing and Residence Life Leadership Team

Luke Jones, Ph.D
Director of Housing and Residence Life

Dr. Luke Jones serves as the Director for Housing and Residence Life and Assistant to the Vice President for Retention Initiatives. His professional experience includes work in broadcasting, advertising, higher education, international education and non-profit management. His student affairs background consists of work in campus recreation, residence life, admissions, fraternities and sororities, campus involvement, and new student programs. Dr. Jones teaches Design Thinking and leadership in the College of Innovation and Design and leads the division’s “student-centered design team”. Dr. Jones holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration, a master’s degree in Student Affairs, and a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Washington State University. His research focus is on the intersection of undergraduate education and the development of meaning, purpose, and community at public institutions of higher education.

Kevin earned his BS in leisure studies and his MS in higher education from Iowa State University. His experience in higher education covers 25 years and has ranged from the student recreation Program to residence life. His current work focuses on the custodial and maintenance issues of our 300 apartments and 9 residence halls.

Dan earned his BS in mechanical engineering from George Fox University and his MS in student affairs in higher education from Colorado State University. He is originally from Fruitland, ID, and has worked in Portland, OR, Fort Collins, CO, and Tacoma, WA. His current work focuses on overseeing operational functions including housing assignments, customer service, IT, conferences and guest services, and marketing.

Taylor earned his bachelor and master’s degrees from Tiffin University in Northern Ohio and is currently completing his Ph.D. in public policy and administration at Boise State University. A firm believer in restorative based dispute resolution programs, Taylor is passionate about providing the community with opportunities to rebuild trust and repair harm when damage has been done. Prior to Boise State University, Taylor worked in student conduct, housing and residence life, first-year programming, student leadership and advocacy, and student union management at various higher education institutions across Ohio.

Kristin Olson

Kristin is originally from Idaho Falls, ID, and is excited to be back in the state after 20 years away. Kristin earned her BA in political science from the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and her MA in higher education administration from the University of Denver. Kristin started her student affairs journey as a Resident Assistant at UNH and quickly realized she found her calling– helping other college students have transformative experiences and finding their connections to the community. Kristin went on to be a Residence Director and then switched tracks, serving in student conduct for 14 years. With a strength in community development and building, the opportunity to work with the exceptional Living Living Programs at Boise State drew her back “home” to Idaho. When not supporting Boise State’s Living Learning Programming faculty and residents, you’ll find Kristin biking around Boise with her family, volunteering in the community, or getting out into the wilderness for hiking and camping. Kim Tucker

Kim was born and raised in Idaho. Kim has been a part of the Boise State University community since 2001, first as a student graduating with a B.S. in Physical Education, an endorsement in Health and Biology, and then as an employee. Kim has worked as a University Supervisor for student teachers while teaching locally, taught courses at Boise State University, and has been a research technician. Kim earned her Master’s in Educational Leadership while she was an Administrator for an after school program. Kim is currently completing her Doctoral Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and she is passionate about assisting students in their educational journey. When Kim is not working, you can find her with her family, friends, or husband Brian bike riding, snowboarding, hiking, rafting, gardening, or remodeling their house.  Kim is passionate about providing Boise State students with opportunities where they can enhance meaningful relationships with their peers, professors, and within the beautiful community of Boise.

Evan is continuing into his fifth year at Boise State where he has fallen in love with the university, the city, and most of all the amazing students. He grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His passion for student learning and development started at Colorado State University while receiving his bachelor’s degree and working as a Resident Assistant. From there, Evan worked as a Resident Director at Western State Colorado University and then went on to Oregon State University where he received his master’s degree in the College Student Services Administration program. When not working, you can find Evan enjoying Netflix, playing games, “nerding-out” to Star Wars, or out on the town enjoying the great food Boise has to offer.

Dan grew up in the small farm town of Byron, Michigan. He went on to earn his BA in communication from Saginaw Valley State University where he was active as a resident assistant. After working outside of higher education for about a year, he decided to go back to school and get his MA in higher education/student affairs from Eastern Michigan University. Most recently, he was the Residence Life Coordinator at Central Oregon Community College and now working with our apartments program here at Boise State. In Dan’s spare time, he enjoys snowboarding and playing hockey as well as spending time with his partner, Emily, and their two cats, Zelda and Tybalt.

Shannon earned a BBA in Marketing & International Business and a BA in Spanish from Boise State University.  She’s your go-to lady for any guest housing needs throughout the year & oversees the apartments program. Amy is originally from San Jose, California and completed her bachelor of arts degree at Boise State University in communication with an emphasis on relational and organizational studies. Originally from northern Illinois, Jordan received her undergraduate degrees in French, and politics & government from Illinois State University.  Following the completion of her undergraduate studies, Jordan worked at Illinois State University as an assistant resident director for two years.  Jordan is very excited to work with the awesome group of students living in Sawtooth Hall this year. When not working with the awesome students and staff, you will find Jordan pursuing an MBA here at Boise State, cheering on the Chicago Cubs, or spending time with her partner and their dog, Hashtag.

Originally from all over Washington state, Sam completed her undergraduate degrees in international affairs and French at Eastern Washington University. Sam is coming most recently from Clemson University in South Carolina where she received her M.Ed. in counselor education & student affairs. There she served as a graduate community director for two years and explored her enthusiasm for residence life and social justice education, which she is excited to bring to Boise State. When she is not at work, Sam can be found attempting craft projects or watching Netflix.

Zack is new to both Boise State University and Idaho, coming from the land of Wyoming. He completed his AA in communications at Northwest College and his BA in organizational communication at Montana State University Billings. Along with this education, he brings 9 years of residence life experience with him. Through that adventure, he has made it his quest to discover each student’s unique place at Boise State, help them cultivate their leadership to energize and empower them, and build meaningful and impactful relationships by “doing life” with our community. When he is not working and growing with the amazing students and staff of Boise State University, you may find him exploring the outdoors around Boise with his family, engrossed in the latest superhero movie, or dragging people to play the best board games ever. Jeremy was born near Seattle, Washington but mostly grew up here in Boise. They received their BA in Mathematics from Reed College in Portland, Oregon in 2008, and their MA in Gender and Cultural Studies from Simmons College in Boston in 2013. After graduate school, Jeremy moved back home to Boise to be closer to their family. They joined Housing and Residence Life in February 2017, but had been working at Boise State as an Adjunct since 2014. Outside of their work in higher education, Jeremy has devoted a lot of their time to anti-violence work–first as a courthouse advocate for survivors of family violence and later as a hotline counselor for a rape crisis center. Jeremy is passionate about building safe, inclusive communities where every member has the support they need to be successful. When not at work, you can find them cooking, hanging out with their partner and their dog (George), playing board games, or reading young adult sci-fi and fantasy.

Dustin completed his B.S. in mathematics education from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA, and his M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Wyoming. His passion is to develop and be a part of communities where people are actively pursuing their dreams, and encouraging one another along the way. When not at work, Dustin enjoys spending time outdoors, walking the city, and traveling to new places.

Alec was raised in Newman, California but considers  San Francisco his home. As a first generation, queer, student of color, Alec attended Modesto Junior College where they received their A.A. in humanities, then moved on to San Francisco State University to earn a B.A. in communication studies and an M.A. in communication studies with emphases in gender, sexuality, race and resistance, and fat studies. While working with diverse populations at SFSU, Alec raised awareness around social justice education and advocacy through intentional curriculum and inclusive dialogue. When Alec is not teaching courses or planning the next social justice summit, they enjoy playing softball, lip-syncing for their life, and making use of their passport. Alec is a freedom fighter with a passion for life who is excited to see what Boise State has to offer – Go Broncos!

Poe was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. She received her Bachelors in Communication with an emphasis in Organizational Communication as well as a certificate in Leadership and and Human Relations from Boise State University. As our Graduate Assistant Resident Director she is currently in the process of earning her Masters in Communication. Poe has been working with Housing and Residence Life for over 4 years and has held positions such as a Resident Assistant and Program Coordinator for Residential Housing Association. She is passionate about student affairs and loves her job! When Poe is not at work she can be found studying in the library or learning in class.

She is passionate about students and making sure that they always feel like a part of the community. When not at work, Jonece loves to watch movies and Netflix, read, and hang out with friends.

Ryan received his B.A. in Political Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and his M.A. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University. Prior to earning his Master’s degree, Ryan worked at The White House in the Calligraphy and Social Office. Ryan is thrilled to join Boise State as a Resident Director, as he loves to create caring, welcoming, and inclusive residential communities and he is excited to work alongside all of the Resident Directors in ensuring that every student feels valued and supported. Originally from California, Ryan spent much of his childhood exploring Lake Tahoe and is excited to join the Boise State community and explore all of the outdoor adventures that Boise has to offer! Jane is new to the Boise area, moving here from Coeur d’Alene.  Jane’s career spans various industries including the timber industry, cable advertising as well as previous years with the State of Idaho Industrial Commission.  Jane is an avid sports enthusiast and loves to share that passion with visitors that stop by the Housing and Residence Life offices.  Jane’s current role is as the Administrative Assistant II within Housing and Residence Life providing support to the director, associate director, assistant directors, managers, coordinators, and Living Learning Community staff/faculty to ensure quality customer service for our internal and external customers.

Charlie is a native of Idaho and has been with Boise State University for 25 years and Housing and Residence Life for 15.  He has a general studies degree with a business minor from Boise State University.   As the IT Systems Coordinator, he works with internal and external staff to meet technology needs. Charlie oversees, coordinates and makes recommendations on network hardware and software. He resolves network communication problems and maintains the residential student network.

JT is a father, husband, and marginally awesome guy. He also DJ’s on the side and has a passion for books, bikes, and beats. He spends his time with his family and friends making meaningful memories, contributing to his community, and has a love of life-long learning.  As the Assignment Coordinator, he maintains data integrity and database corrections/updates, and automation updates as needed, rates plans, room configurations, user access rights. In addition, communicates assignment decisions and other jobs critical information to Housing residents via email.

Collyn is originally from Seattle, Washington. She has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Human Resource management from Boise State. She is responsible for posting all of Housing and Residence Life’s jobs, on-boarding new staff, travel authorizations, books travel, processes employee reimbursements, reviews time entry and approval for payroll accuracy.  Outside of work, Collyn enjoys spending time with her family and 2 huskies.

Angelica is originally from Montana, but recently relocated to Boise from a small town in eastern Oregon. Born and raised in the Treasure Valley, Gene has been working for Housing and Residence Life for 11 years. He’s an expert on all things mechanical and primarily works in Driscoll, Morrison, Keiser, Taylor, or Chaffee Halls. An avid boater, you’ll find him on one of the local lakes with his family on the weekend.

Stacy, a native Idahoan, born in Boise & has been with the Boise State University Housing and Residence Life custodial team for almost 8 years.  He served his country at sea in the US Coast Guard & has an associates degree from Boise Bible College.  In his free time, Stacy enjoys volunteering at the Idaho Humane Society, camping with friends, biking, reading, binge watching TV and movies, cooking, baking & growing peppers…  the hotter the better!
